2. How is Breast Ultrasound Performed?
You will be asked to lie on your back with your arm raised above your head on the examining table. A clear gel is applied to the area of the body being studied to help the transducer make secure contact with the body and eliminate air pockets between the transducer and the skin. The clinician then presses the transducer firmly against the skin and sweeps it back and forth over the area of interest until the desired images are captured. This ultrasound examination is usually completed within 30 minutes.
3. Is it safe to have a breast ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a safe and painless procedure that uses sound waves to “see” inside your body. The scan can help examine any lumps or unusual findings you or your doctor may have found.
4. What are the most findings in breast ultrasound?
Ultrasound is most suited to identify fluid-filled spaces such as cysts (cysts are masses that are definitely not cancer, as distinguished from other masses that may or may not be cancer). Ultrasound is also useful for examining both silicone and saline breast implants.
5. What preparation do I need for my breast scan?
- It is important that the imaging physician have any previous ultrasound or mammograms available for comparison when reading your current ultrasound. Please bring any previous ultrasound report or mammogram films with you on the day of your exam.
- It is suggested that you do not schedule your breast ultrasound one week before your menstrual cycle, as your breasts are usually very sensitive at this time.
- If your doctor gave you a referral, please bring it with you.
6. What happens during the breast ultrasound scan?
- You will be asked to lie on your back on the examination table with your hands at your sides.
- A warm gel, very similar to hair-styling gel, will be applied to your breast. The gel will help the sound waves to travel from the machine into your breast.
- A transducer, a small device similar to a microphone, will be placed over your breast. This will be painless, although you may feel mild pressure from the transducer.
- The images will appear on the monitor. These moving images may be viewed immediately or photographed for further study.
- Your exam will take approximately 30 minutes.
7. How does it work?
Sound waves will bounce off the different tissues in your breast. These waves will create “echoes.” The echoes are reflected back to the transducer, which converts them to electronic signals. A computer then processes the signals into pictures and shows them on a television monitor.
8. When can I get my result?
You will receive your results verbally after the scan. However, the Clinician will examine the relevant images after your appointment and prepare a written report after your scan or within 24 hours with any recommended actions. The report will be sent to you so that you can discuss the findings with your doctor if required.

Mr Reza Farahmandfar, the Medical Ultrasound Specialist, who gave me the Carotid Doppler and CIMT scan, was was professional and reassuring.He discussed my reasons for the scan, explained the process and what he found whilst carrying out the scan.He is sending the scan and CIMT information to me and I will take it to the next appointment with my consultant.I recommend this reasonably priced, thorough, ultrasound clinic.

I booked my appointment 1 1/2 hours before, very straight forward booking and payment system. I drove to the appointment there is plenty of pay and display spaces near the clinic. I was nervous, full of anxiety and worry. When I saw the Dr he and his colleague were empathetic, calm and made me feel comfortable. Once the scan was finished he showed me the images and explained to me properly what they meant. I felt at ease and was very pleased with the whole appointment. Excellent service. After discovering a lump I saw my GP who said it was possibly cancerous. I could not immediately get any NHS appointment for a follow-up so I was willing to pay for a private scan. I could get a very quick appointment at London Private Ultrasound. I was seen on time, no waiting, and Ashleigh Austin who carried out the ultrasound was very thorough whilst being friendly and reassuring. Thank you very much for your help.Edit: whilst I maintain my opinion that the sonographer here was very kind and approachable, after further testing with an actual specialist (Doctor) just a few days later; when they repeated their own ultrasound it was found that the results received at London Private Ultrasound for the imaging was incorrect and misinterpreted, there were also two mild issues that were present but had been missed at this clinic. I also had further specialised imaging and various tests to further confirm the issue at hand and that’s why I have waited until now to edit my review.

Oh gosh these people here! I came in with my husband as he fund a strange lump. I was really upset and worried. The receptionist, God bless him, saw me uneasy and tried enerything to make me feel better. He offered cookies and played me some relaxing music. 😀😀😀 Then dr.Fay explained me everything, saw that I was worried, even though she explained everything to my husband already. Such an Angel. The lump was nothing, but the attitude of these great people was EVERYTHING. Great clinic - clinicians who listen, are thorough and highly professional. Very little waiting time and both my diagnosis and procedure (Baker cyst drainage and steroid injections) were carried out to a high standard and everything dealt with in a few days. I have had very little after pain and made a quick recovery. I was hesitant about going private and spending the money - I am neither wealthy nor health insured - but it has been well worth it to be pain free and get on with my life. Highly recommended.

We recently fell for an internet scam using this same businesses address but with a slightly different name. We had booked an early pregnancy scan for my wife. The staff were incredibly understanding and helpful. Once Dr Pedram understood what had happened he even offered us a free session as we were very stressed and distraught from the whole situation. They saved the day and it all went well, a true gentleman! I couldn't recommend this studio enough, not only are they very professional but they are also lovely people.

Had a lymph node scan back August. The service and treatment were amazing. comfortable and able to receive good information. M.Aghaei was the person who performed my scan and was also able to help me with getting my GP to pay attention to my concerns. If I had any issues and didn’t want to wait for the NHS I would definitely come back again to receive scan or blood tests work. So happy with LPU

He was so kind, calm and respectful, explaining everything in a way I could understand and fully involving me in the process by showing me diagrams and also explaining the results on screen while the ultrasound was being performed. I was very satisfied! I booked appointment for early pregnancy scan. For specific price they give detailed ultrasound of the embryo, his arms, legs, and heartbeat speed and others. also they look all around very detailed ultrasonic scanning. They sent us an email with at least 30 photos, videos and a written report about the general condition and condition of the embryo. It was professional in my opinion, I was in other clinics where they don’t do anything like that and don’t consider it in detail. I can advise this place with confidence.
