Stroke (TIA), Doppler Carotid Artery Health Package
Our Doppler Carotid Artery Health Package, a comprehensive screening program designed to assess the health of your carotid arteries, which play a critical role in supplying blood to the brain. This package includes advanced doppler ultrasound, consultations with a general practitioner, and a comprehensive panel of blood tests to provide a thorough evaluation of your cardiovascular health.
Includes:
1. Doppler Carotid Artery Ultrasound: A specialized ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries will be performed to assess the presence of plaque buildup (atherosclerosis), narrowing (stenosis), or other abnormalities that may increase the risk of stroke or cardiovascular disease. This non-invasive imaging procedure provides detailed images of the carotid arteries, allowing for the early detection of potential issues.
We do measure Carotid Intima Media Thickness when we perform carodit Doppler ultrasound scan. Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) is a measure of the thickness of the two innermost layers of the wall of the carotid artery: the intima (the innermost layer) and the media (the middle layer). CIMT is typically assessed using high-resolution ultrasound imaging and is used as a marker for atherosclerosis, which is the buildup of plaques in the arteries that can lead to cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.
2. GP Consultation: You’ll have a dedicated consultation with our general practitioner to discuss your medical history, cardiovascular risk factors, and any symptoms you may be experiencing. Our GP will conduct a comprehensive assessment and review of your health profile to develop a personalized care plan tailored to your needs.
3. Blood Test:
HAEMATOLOGY: Comprehensive blood tests, including a full blood count with a 5-part differential and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), to evaluate the health of your blood cells and detect any abnormalities that may indicate underlying health conditions.
BIOCHEMISTRY: A comprehensive panel of biochemical tests to assess kidney function (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, urea, creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate), liver function (bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, AST, ALT, gamma-glutamyl transferase, total protein, albumin, globulin), cardiac/muscle enzymes (LDH, CK), bone markers (calcium, phosphate, uric acid), glucose levels, lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol), iron status (iron, total iron-binding capacity).
