What Is Fatigue & Tiredness Syndrome?
Fatigue and Tiredness Syndrome, sometimes referred to as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a state of persistent physical, mental, or emotional exhaustion that does not improve with sleep or rest. It is not caused by a single identifiable illness but often reflects deeper imbalances within the body. Common contributing factors include nutrient deficiencies (such as iron or Vitamin D), thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, poor glucose regulation, chronic inflammation, and immune system disturbances. In many cases, symptoms may be triggered or worsened by viral infections — such as Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) — and are particularly common in women during periods of hormonal transition or following viral illnesses. Addressing these underlying causes is essential for restoring energy, focus, and overall wellbeing.
Common Causes in Women:
- Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection
- Vitamin D or Iron Deficiency
- Thyroid dysfunction (low Free T4 or high TSH)
- Autoimmune imbalance or suppressed immunity
- Chronic low-grade inflammation (elevated CRP)
- Hormonal changes (peri-menopause, PCOS, postnatal, etc.)
Common Causes in Men:
- Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) or past viral infections
- Low Vitamin D or iron stores
- Immunodeficiency or overactive immune response
- Thyroid imbalances (especially low T4/TSH)
- Chronic inflammation (e.g. raised CRP)
- Metabolic dysfunction, liver or kidney overload

Silver & Gold Blood Test Profile– What’s Included
Our comprehensive blood test panel is designed to uncover the root causes of fatigue and tiredness by assessing a wide range of vital health markers:
- Inflammation: We check for signs of underlying inflammation with CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and ESR, which may indicate chronic fatigue, autoimmune activity, or other systemic issues.
- Haematology: A Full Blood Count (FBC) helps identify conditions like anaemia or infection that could be contributing to your tiredness.
- Kidney Function: We evaluate your kidney health by measuring Urea, Creatinine, eGFR, and key Electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, and Bicarbonate).
- Liver Function: This includes a detailed assessment of liver enzymes and proteins such as Bilirubin, ALP, AST, ALT, Gamma GT, and Protein levels (Total, Albumin, Globulin) — essential for understanding metabolic health.
- Bone Health: We check Calcium, Phosphate, Uric Acid, and Magnesium levels, which play a crucial role in energy, muscle function, and bone strength.
- Metabolism: This covers Glucose, HbA1c (a measure of long-term blood sugar control), and a full Lipid Profile including Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Non-HDL, and Triglycerides — key markers of cardiovascular and metabolic health.
- Iron & Nutrient Status: We assess Iron levels (including TIBC) and Ferritin to detect iron deficiency or overload, both of which can cause fatigue.
- Thyroid Function: Testing includes Free T4 and TSH to evaluate for underactive or overactive thyroid, a common but often overlooked cause of tiredness.
- Vitamin Deficiency: We check Vitamin D (25-OH), a key nutrient that supports immune function, bone health, and energy levels.
Platinum Blood Test Profile– What’s Included
Our VIP Blood Test is tailored for patients seeking deeper insight into their immune system, viral history, and nutrient status — particularly in the context of chronic fatigue, long COVID, or unexplained tiredness. This advanced panel includes:
- Viral Immunity: We test for Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) antibodies, including both IgG and IgM, to determine past exposure or recent/reactivated infection — a common underlying factor in persistent fatigue.
- Immune System Status: Detailed analysis of Lymphocyte Subsets (CD3, CD4, CD8) offers valuable insight into immune function, helping identify immune suppression, activation, or imbalance.
- Inflammation: We measure C-Reactive Protein (CRP) to detect low-grade inflammation often associated with chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions, or post-viral syndromes.
- Vitamin & Nutrient Deficiency: Assessment of Vitamin D (25-OH) levels — a vital nutrient for immune regulation, energy, and overall health — ensuring deficiencies are identified and addressed.
