Dating Ultrasound Scan

£130

If you’re pregnant, a dating scan can provide important information about the gestational age of your fetus and estimate your due date. This type of ultrasound examination is typically performed during the first trimester, between 8 and 22 weeks gestation.

The purpose of the scan is to determine the gestational age of the fetus by measuring its size and comparing it to standard measurements. This information can be used to estimate your due date and monitor your baby’s growth and development.

Some of the things that may be assessed during a dating scan include:

  • Confirming a viable pregnancy
  • Checking the number of fetuses (to rule out multiple pregnancies)
  • Assessing the fetal heartbeat
  • Determining the location of the pregnancy (to rule out ectopic pregnancy)
  • Identifying any structural abnormalities in the fetus (although this is typically done during a more detailed ultrasound later in the pregnancy)

A dating scan is a routine part of prenatal care and is generally considered safe for both the mother and the fetus. It can provide reassurance and valuable information about your pregnancy, and can help identify any potential problems or complications early on.
