What is included in the £699 Pancreas Health Check?
The current LondonSono source package combines five linked components: Abdominal & Pancreas Ultrasound, a 26+ biomarker blood panel including Amylase and Lipase, Faecal Elastase stool testing, a 30-minute GP review and a Pharmacist medication review. The tests are completed first, then the clinical review takes place once the results are available.
Five core components
A structural, biochemical and functional pancreas assessment
Each component contributes different information, allowing the GP to interpret pancreas imaging, enzyme markers, digestive function and wider health findings together.
Abdominal & Pancreas Ultrasound
Assesses the visible pancreas and surrounding upper-abdominal organs, including the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, kidneys and spleen.
26+ Biomarker Blood Panel
Includes pancreatic enzymes plus haematology, kidney, liver, mineral, metabolic, iron and lipid markers.
Faecal Elastase
Assesses exocrine pancreatic function and can support investigation for Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency.
30-Minute GP Review
A results-based GP consultation after imaging, blood and stool findings are available.
Pharmacist Medication Review
Reviews medicines that may be relevant to pancreatic, digestive, metabolic or wider gastrointestinal health.
26+ biomarker panel
More than pancreatic enzymes alone
The source package places Amylase and Lipase in the context of wider haematology, liver, kidney, metabolic and nutritional markers.
Amylase + Lipase
Pancreatic enzyme markers used when assessing pancreatic inflammation or injury in the appropriate clinical context.
FBC + ESR
General haematology and inflammatory assessment supporting broader interpretation of symptoms.
Kidney + electrolytes
Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Bicarbonate, Urea, Creatinine and eGFR.
Liver + biliary markers
Bilirubin, ALP, AST, ALT, GGT, Total Protein, Albumin and Globulin.
Metabolic + mineral markers
Glucose, Triglycerides, Cholesterol, Calcium, Phosphate, Uric Acid and Magnesium.
Iron + lipid profile
Iron/TIBC together with HDL, LDL and Non-HDL cholesterol for wider metabolic interpretation.
Ultrasound coverage
What is assessed during the abdominal and pancreas ultrasound?
The scan examines the visible pancreas together with organs that can contribute to overlapping upper-abdominal or pancreatic symptoms.
Pancreas
Head, body and tail are assessed where technically visible, together with size, contour, echotexture and visible ductal changes.
Liver
Assesses size, echotexture, focal abnormalities and signs of fatty or chronic liver change.
Gallbladder
Looks for stones, sludge, wall changes and other gallbladder abnormalities relevant to pancreatic symptoms.
Bile ducts
Assesses visible intrahepatic and extrahepatic ducts for dilatation or obstruction patterns.
Kidneys
Both kidneys are assessed for size, structure, cysts, stones and hydronephrosis where visible.
Spleen
Assesses splenic size and general structure as part of the upper-abdominal examination.
Two-visit workflow
Tests first — GP and Pharmacist review after results are ready
This structure mirrors the LondonSono package so clinical advice is based on completed investigations.
Visit 1: ultrasound
Abdominal & Pancreas Ultrasound is completed, with same-day verbal findings where appropriate.
Visit 1: bloods + stool
Blood is taken for the 26+ marker panel and the Faecal Elastase stool-test process is arranged.
Results become available
The source pathway states ultrasound reporting within 24 hours, with blood and stool results generally taking 1–3 days depending on laboratory processing.
Visit 2: clinical review
The GP and Pharmacist review the imaging, blood and stool results and discuss appropriate next steps or referrals.
Optional add-ons
Further pancreas, bowel and metabolic assessment when indicated
The LondonSono source lists nine optional add-ons. They are not included in the £699 core fee and should be selected according to symptoms, imaging and clinical review.
Gastroenterologist
+£350 in the source package for specialist gastrointestinal and pancreatic review.
MRI Pancreas / MRCP
+£700 in the source package for deeper non-invasive pancreatic and biliary imaging.
Endoscopic Ultrasound
Referral pathway for high-resolution pancreatic imaging and possible tissue sampling when clinically indicated.
CA 19-9
+£90 in the source package. A tumour-associated marker that is not diagnostic on its own.
HbA1c
+£80 in the source package for three-month average glucose assessment.
Other add-ons
Stool Calprotectin, Hepatitis B/C panel, Vitamin D/B12/Folate and CT Pancreas are also listed by the source service.
Who may consider it
Symptoms and pancreas-related concerns
The package is designed for adults with pancreatic or upper-abdominal concerns and for patients who need a more coordinated assessment than a standalone ultrasound.
Persistent upper-abdominal pain
Especially when discomfort is recurrent, unexplained or radiates towards the back.
Unexplained weight loss
Unintentional weight loss requires clinical assessment and should not rely on ultrasound alone.
Greasy or pale stools
Steatorrhoea can occur with impaired fat digestion and may justify assessment of exocrine pancreatic function.
Previous pancreatitis
Patients with previous acute or chronic pancreatitis may need structural, biochemical or functional follow-up.
Gallstone history
Gallbladder and bile-duct disease can overlap with or contribute to pancreatic inflammation.
Alcohol-related risk
Relevant alcohol history can be discussed as part of the wider pancreas and liver assessment.
Family history
A strong family history of pancreatic disease or cancer may warrant specialist risk assessment beyond routine ultrasound.
Metabolic change
New or worsening glucose abnormalities, weight change or raised triglycerides can form part of the wider clinical picture.
Urgent symptoms
When not to wait for a routine health-check appointment
A scheduled private pancreas assessment should not delay urgent clinical care when symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening.
Severe persistent abdominal pain
Severe upper-abdominal pain, especially with repeated vomiting or feeling seriously unwell, requires urgent medical assessment.
Jaundice
New yellowing of the skin or eyes, especially with dark urine, pale stools, fever or pain, requires prompt medical review.
Persistent vomiting or dehydration
Inability to keep fluids down, collapse or significant dehydration should be assessed urgently.
Progressive unexplained symptoms
Persistent weight loss, worsening pain or other concerning symptoms require appropriate GP or specialist assessment even if ultrasound is normal.

Pancreas Health Check FAQs
Answers about the five core components, pancreatic enzymes, Faecal Elastase, two-visit workflow, imaging limits and optional add-ons.
Need help before booking? Call 020 7101 3377What is included in the £699 Pancreas Health Check?
The package includes five core components: Abdominal & Pancreas Ultrasound, a 26+ biomarker blood panel including Amylase and Lipase, Faecal Elastase stool testing, a 30-minute GP appointment and a Pharmacist medication review. It is delivered through a coordinated two-visit workflow.
What does the Abdominal & Pancreas Ultrasound assess?
The ultrasound assesses the visible pancreas, including the head, body and tail where technically accessible, together with the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, kidneys, spleen and surrounding upper-abdominal structures. Bowel gas can limit pancreatic visibility, so CT, MRI or MRCP may sometimes be recommended.
Which blood tests are included?
The source package includes more than 26 biomarkers across haematology, kidney function, liver and biliary markers, bone and mineral markers, metabolic markers, iron studies and lipids, plus the pancreatic enzymes Amylase and Lipase.
What is the Faecal Elastase stool test?
Faecal Elastase is a stool test used to assess exocrine pancreatic function. A low result can support the diagnosis of Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and should be interpreted alongside symptoms, imaging and clinical assessment.
Why is the package delivered in two visits?
Visit 1 is used for the abdominal and pancreas ultrasound, blood sampling and stool-test arrangements. Visit 2 takes place after the results are available so the GP and Pharmacist can review the ultrasound, blood and stool findings together and provide tailored advice.
Who may consider a Pancreas Health Check?
The source package is aimed at adults with pancreatic or upper-abdominal symptoms or risk factors, including persistent upper-abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, greasy stools, previous pancreatitis, gallstone disease, relevant alcohol history, family history of pancreatic disease or new metabolic concerns.
Can this health check diagnose or rule out pancreatic cancer?
No. Ultrasound, blood markers and stool tests can identify abnormalities that need further investigation, but they cannot by themselves diagnose or exclude pancreatic cancer. Suspicious symptoms or findings may require CT, MRI/MRCP, endoscopic ultrasound, specialist review or biopsy.
Is CA 19-9 included in the £699 package?
No. In the LondonSono source package CA 19-9 is an optional add-on rather than a core component. It is not diagnostic on its own and should be interpreted alongside imaging, symptoms and clinical risk.
How should I prepare for the ultrasound?
Upper-abdominal ultrasound usually requires fasting so the gallbladder is distended and bowel gas is reduced. Follow the preparation instructions sent with your PrivateSono booking, and bring any previous pancreas, abdominal or gastroenterology reports.
What optional add-ons are available?
The LondonSono source package lists Gastroenterologist review, MRI Pancreas/MRCP, CA 19-9, HbA1c, Stool Calprotectin, Endoscopic Ultrasound referral, Hepatitis B/C testing, Vitamin D/B12/Folate testing and CT Pancreas as optional add-ons when clinically appropriate.
